My story . . .

As an overweight mom I felt like I was failing to set a good example for my kids and, let's face it, being a mommy is probably the most important thing I'll ever do.  Waking up each day, looking in the mirror, and lying to myself about how my weight is affecting my life is one thing but knowing in my heart how it was affecting my kids was too much to bear.  So, after much soul searching, my journey to a new, never seen before, me has begun.

On November 7, 2011 I had gastric by-pass surgery.  This surgery has provided me with a tool to reshape my life (quite literally!)  Seem drastic?  Maybe.  But in my 34 years of experience, nothing else worked so it was time to call in the big guns and bring on some real change.  I went into this weighing 286 lbs at my surgery consult, 277 lbs the day of surgery and now I am down to 247 lbs just 7 short weeks out. I have already given my kids the gift of a mommy who is now able to physically get down in the floor and play with them.  This is just the first gift... there are many more to come.

So, this is my story of how life will change throughout my journey and beyond...
